How are loans sent and returned?

All loans are sent using a courier service that tracks items, Express Post or by Registered Mail. Books must be returned to the CARM Centre using a similar service.

How are copies sent?

Copies are sent as PDFs via email or directly to the requester’s document store if applicable. Copies include a cover sheet with the Copyright Declaration. CARM Interlibrary Loans department adheres to section 50 of the Australian Copyright Act.

What are the options for billing?

Billing options: Invoice to follow and Libraries Australia payments scheme. For overseas requests payment is required prior to shipping request. Requesters may pay by: Deposit account, American Express, Libraries Australia payments scheme, Cheque, Mastercard and Visa. We do not except IFLA or ALIA vouchers.

What is policy for replacements?

Full replacement cost and a non-refundable Administration cost for lost or damaged items.

Are there any service levels for member and non-member libraries?

Overseas Requests

All overseas loans are sent via Express Post International at the expense of the requesting library. All overseas loan requests must be returned using a postal or courier service that tracks items such as Express Post International, Registered Mail, etc. Payment is required prior to shipping request.

What are the arrangements for onsite access?

Onsite access is available in the CARM Reading Room during normal business hours. Requests to view CARM Centre material in the CARM Centre Reading Room must be made directly to the CARM Centre at least 24 hours prior to visiting. Copying services are provided by CAVAL staff. Charges apply.
