CAVAL Members Day 2006

The Second Annual CAVAL Member’s Day was held May 26th this year at the CARM Centre. There were over 30 participants who attended throughout the day. As well as providing an opportunity for CAVAL Members and Associate Members to meet and discuss current issues in their libraries, the participants enjoyed presentations, workshops and discussions of interest to library professionals.

Dr. Gillian Hallam, recent President of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), was the featured guest speaker for the day. CAVAL is pleased to welcome respected UK academic and information management consultant Professor Nick Moore to Australia in February. Professor Moore will present two timely half day workshops on Designing and Managing Research Projects and Information Policy – Implications for Australia.

Professor Nick Moore is the Managing Director of Acumen Research and Consultancy Ltd (UK) where he has
undertaken nearly 100 research and consultancy projects for a wide range of organisations in the UK, Europe and East Asia. He is also the author of How to do research (Library Association Publishing, 2000), now into its fourth edition. Professor Moore has been researching the development of information policies since the late 1980s at the Policy Studies Institute in London. He has just completed a major study of information policies in Asia, commissioned by UNESCO.
