Library Statistics

Library management are increasingly relying on statistics to demonstrate performance or strategic direction.

The benefits of collecting statistical data include:

  • historical data collections enable strategic decision-making
  • benchmarking
  • submissions for grant monies
  • peer comparison

CAVAL collects and publishes the annual library statistical collection for a number of groups of libraries. This enables them to create historical collections of data that can assist in management decisions, in benchmarking and in making submissions for grant monies.

Examples of collected data include:

  • Staffing
  • Expenditures
  • Library services
  • Library characteristics

Online Statistics

CAVAL Collaborative Solutions has designed its Online Statistics service to enable management to make comparisons between peer libraries by querying and extracting reports from the web-based system. Initially developed for the CAUL Statistics, CAVAL has the tools and expertise to develop an online interactive website for any statistical data collection.

We can also offer consultancy services such as data collection, data verification, data publication and specialised statistical analysis.

Visit CAUL Online Statistics to see how it works
