CAVAL Horizon Executive Leadership Program

The need for executive leadership capability in Australasian libraries has never been greater!

CAVAL is proud to announce the launch of Horizon - Australasia's first executive leadership program designed to prepare senior library and information managers for appointments at Director-level and above.

Horizon offers an integrated program of executive learning and development inspired by lighthouse business and library leadership programs within Australia and overseas.

Horizon features two intensive residentials – the first at Werribee Park, Melbourne from 21st to 23rd October 2008, and the second in Sydney at the Manly Pacific Hotel, 12th to 13th February 2009.

Annie Talve and the talented team at Make Stuff Happen have been engaged to facilitate the inaugural Horizon program.

Horizon also welcomes the appointment of four respected Industry Leaders to guide the inaugural program: Andrew Wells (University of New South Wales), Frances Awcock AM (consultant and retired CEO), Graham Black (CQ University), and John Arfield (University of Western Australia).  All will bring to the program a wealth of knowledge, insights and real-world executive experience.

Applications are currently being sought from suitably qualified applicants in the library and information sector.

Participants will be selected on merit, based on four key criteria:

  • Demonstrated potential to progress to executive levels of leadership within large and complex organisations;
  • Potential to contribute significantly to the strategic goals of their organisation;
  • Capacity to commit the necessary time and energy required to derive full benefit from the CAVAL Horizon experience; and,
  • Commitment from their employer or an alternative sponsor organisation.

For more information and to apply, download a CAVAL Horizon information pack and application form.

Applications close Friday 5th September 2008.
