Terms of Reference [PDF] 108KB

The CAVAL Reference Interest Group was formed in 1989 to give reference staff from the CAVAL member libraries a forum for discussing and sharing information and skills relevant to the provision of reference services and reader education programmes. Throughout its years of operation, CRIG has made significant contributions to the development and improvement of reference services and information literacy programmes in participating organizations.

CRIG is an expert group within the committees structure of CAVAL. CRIG has set up a number of Working Parties at various times to undertake specific roles. The working parties report to CRIG which in turn reports to the CEO of CAVAL.

Mission

The mission of the CAVAL Reference Interest Group is to facilitate cooperation between member libraries in the delivery of reference and information services

Goals

  • to promote and coordinate cooperative projects of benefit to reference and information services in CAVAL libraries
  • to coordinate and deliver continuing education and professional development programmes of relevance
  • to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas among reference staff in CAVAL libraries

Objectives

  • Hold meetings, seminars, workshops on reference and information services issues
  • Produce relevant publications
  • Exploit electronic avenues of communication

CRIG email discussion list: CRIG-L

CRIG-L is a discussion list for reference librarians from CAVAL member libraries, and others interested in the provision of reference services and information literacy programs in universities and TAFE institutions. Subscription information
